Despite the reasonably neutral feedback from Gabe Newell and Sid Meier about NFTs regarding future of gaming, some companies have chosen to take the “full speed ahead” approach to blockchain. Ubisoft, one such innovator, tried NFTs even in their AAA game.

Square Enix’s part has not been nearly as passionate but still has its intentions. In autumn, Square Enix first made public its interest in NFTs. Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy XIV’s producer, also stated that he finds NFTs fascinating. Judging by the company’s latest latest remarks, it seems like the beloved developer has no plans to touch its current IPs such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.

Recently, the company partnered with one of the biggest crypto metaverses, ‘The Sandbox‘. Ubisoft and Warner Music have partnered up with Cube Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, and Cube Entertainment to show that the metaverse platform is capable of forming alliances and obtaining large collaborations.

Dungeon Siege, an RPG series by Square Enix, is set to receive its own land in the metaverse and will bring the game’s licenced content to The Sandbox. In the official blog post they claimed that the move would bring “interactive RPG experiences players can enjoy while learning best practices for constructing Dungeon Siege adventures.”

Square Enix has released the following statement regarding the partnership.

“Dungeon Siege is all about inciting adventure. Entering The Sandbox metaverse and empowering players to create their own adventures opens up a new chapter for this franchise. We’re looking forward to seeing Dungeon Siege come to life in The Sandbox, powered by the inspiration of RPG fans.”
