Dogecoin began to rise all the way up until hours before Elon Musk’s performance on Saturday Night Live on May 8, 2021.
During the SNL monologue, the self-proclaimed “Dogefather” made his debut and the price of dogecoin began to drop. Not to mention the comments he made during the weekend review comedy segment, calling dogecoin a “hustle”.
Fast forward to today, his latest tweet, Musk asked, “Do you want Tesla to accept Doge?” Within two hours of posting, the survey had over 1.4 million accept Doge as payment for a Tesla.” At that point, 76.8% responded affirmatively, while 23.2% rejected the proposal. Tesla began accepting bitcoin (BTC) as payment in March. As Musk posed the question, the price of dogecoin spiked over 20%. After trading at $0.46 within half an hour of the post, the price jumped as high as $0.54. It is currently trading just above $0.50.

If that’s not enough, earlier this week Musk’s space exploration firm SpaceX says it will launch a mission to the moon that will be paid for using dogecoin.
In a statement Sunday, Geometric Energy Corp. announced the “DOGE-1 Mission to the Moon,” the first-ever commercial lunar payload will be paid entirely with dogecoin. The company will team with SpaceX to send a 40-kg satellite to the moon on a Falcon 9 rocket in the first quarter of 2022.

A word of caution, @Tesla hasn’t “OFFICIALLY” announced that their accepting dogecoin as payment just yet, however Elon is asking for votes and it’s looking prominent and once it’s officially announced dogecoin can expect new highs.
