JERUSALEM — A remarkable scene unfolded in Jerusalem this week as a record number of local Israeli believers joined thousands of Christians from around the world for the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem’s 2026 Feast of Tabernacles celebration.
Organizers say this year brought the largest participation of local Israeli believers in the event’s history, including both Messianic Jewish and Arab believers. ICEJ spokesman David Parsons estimated that 1,500 to 1,800 local believers could be present for one evening of the celebration.
Christians From More Than 70 Nations
The annual ICEJ gathering ran September 25–30 and was expected to draw roughly 3,000 local and international participants representing more than 70 nations. Events began in the Judean Desert before moving to Jerusalem.
This year’s theme was “The Lord Roars from Zion!” Worship, biblical teaching and prayer were joined by meetings and activities connecting international visitors with Israelis.
The growing Israeli participation is particularly noteworthy. Parsons said local believers increasingly want to help welcome Christians arriving from other nations. Israeli worship teams also helped attract local participants.

What Is the Feast of Tabernacles?
Sukkot, or the Feast of Tabernacles, is one of the biblical pilgrimage festivals commanded to Israel. Leviticus 23:33–43 describes Israelites dwelling in booths as a remembrance of God’s provision following the Exodus.
The feast also carries special significance for many Christians because the New Testament records Jesus attending the Feast of Tabernacles in John 7.
But another passage makes this year’s international gathering especially interesting to Christians who study biblical prophecy.
Zechariah 14:16 describes a future time when people from the nations will go to Jerusalem:
“to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.”
ICEJ explicitly interprets the annual Christian gathering in light of this passage and believes Sukkot has future prophetic significance.

Is Biblical Prophecy Unfolding?
The sight is certainly striking: Christians from more than 70 nations gathering in Jerusalem to celebrate a biblical feast alongside Israeli believers.
However, an important distinction should be made.
Zechariah’s prophecy and the modern ICEJ celebration are not automatically the same event. Whether today’s gatherings anticipate or relate prophetically to Zechariah 14 is a matter of biblical interpretation. The documented news event itself does not prove that the prophecy is presently being fulfilled.
Still, for Christians who read Zechariah literally, what is happening in Jerusalem provides a compelling reason to return to the biblical text.
Nearly 2,500 years after Zechariah wrote about the nations, Jerusalem and the Feast of Tabernacles, believers from nations around the world are indeed traveling to Jerusalem during Sukkot. And in 2026, a record number of local Israeli believers are joining them.
