JERUSALEM — More than 550 Christian leaders from 51 nations have arrived in Israel for a major international gathering that will culminate with Awake Jerusalem, an evening of Christian music and worship at Jerusalem’s historic Tower of David on October 3.
The ten-day delegation is being organized by Eagles’ Wings, the Christian ministry founded and led by Bishop Robert Stearns. The gathering is taking place during the biblical season of Sukkot and just days before the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attacks.
Christians Converge on Jerusalem
The international delegation includes pastors, ministry leaders and dignitaries whose churches and organizations collectively reach millions of Christians around the world.
Among those participating are Christian leaders from the Philippines, Costa Rica and Brazil, along with delegations from African nations including Kenya and Nigeria.
The visit extends far beyond the worship event. Delegates are scheduled to meet Israeli leaders, Foreign Ministry and military officials, faith leaders, returned hostages and families who lost loved ones.
Organizers say the goal is to give Christian leaders firsthand exposure to Israel and allow them to take what they learn back to their churches and communities.
Worship at the Tower of David
On Saturday night, October 3, the delegation will gather at the Tower of David for Awake Jerusalem, featuring international Christian artists, worship and prayer.
The event is expected to reach far beyond those physically present. Ynet Global says it will broadcast Awake Jerusalem live through its website and social media platforms.
Stearns described the delegation as an effort to move Christians beyond prayer alone and toward practical engagement.
Why Jerusalem Matters to Christians
Jerusalem holds a unique place in Christianity. It was the setting for Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection and the birthplace of the early Church described in Acts.
